NEP-2020: Govt constitutes high-level committee for engaging expert corporates to train teachers of pre-primary classes

Srinagar, Sep 12 (KNO): In order to train the government teachers of pre-primary classes, the authorities have constituted a high-level committee for engaging expert corporates to train them in light of New Education Policy (NEP)—2020. In this regard, an order earlier this week was issued by the School Education Department, a copy of which lies with the news agency—Kashmir News Observer (KNO). “Sanction is accorded to constitution of a high level committee of the officers for engaging expert corporates to train government teachers of pre-primary classes in light of (NEP) 2020 issued by Government of India (GoI) in 2020,” the order reads. The government said that the terms and reference of the committee shall comprehensively examine the issue of training needs of in-service, un-trained and trained teachers and design appropriate training programmes. “The Committee shall chalk-out a suitable strategy for continuous professional development programme for in-service teachers and come-up with a detailed training plan for all the school teachers,” it added. The government also said that the committee shall deliberate upon the need for engaging experts to train Government teachers of pre-primary classes in light of the NEP 2020. “The committee shall come up with recommendations. Besides designing Expression of Interest (Eel) for inviting applications for experts to be engaged for the purpose and shall shortlist the experts or corporates who shall conduct training of teachers as per approved terms and conditions,” reads the government order. Meanwhile, the government has asked the committee to accomplish the task within one month. According to the order of the School Education Department, the Principal Secretary to Government for School Education Department and Skill Development will be the chairperson of the committee. Commissioner Secretary to Higher education department, Chairperson of Jammu and Kashmir Board of School Education (BOSE), Director Skill Development, Directors of School Education of both Jammu and Kashmir regions will be the members of the committee and project Director of Samagra Shiksha will be the member and Secretary of the committee—(KNO)
